Malaysia; Penang’s Rifle Range Morning Market for breakfast

Outlook in Life

Hi.. sorry for deviating from my Taiwan’s Tainan history walk. Well.. thought I change the site for this one posting before I go back to my 2nd Day walk in Tainan.

Rifle Range? Well. it is no  more one (but it used to be). It is one the most densely populated area in Penang Island. Built back in 1969. It was also the 1st country low cost high rise accommodation.

There are total 9 blocks of 17-storey buildings within an area of 16.7ha, with every floor consisting of 20 units of single bedrooms and four two bedroom units.

That total up to a 3,888 units within the flats, the average size of a unit is merely 340 sq ft! So can also imagine the number of cars and motorbikes in these area. A Penangites can tell you if you choose to park your car near the flats in the evening, the chances…

Easy Glazed Pork Chops

The Domestic Man

First of all, I want to thank everyone who bought my cookbook or spread the word about that crazy deal last week. The Kindle version of The Ancestral Table climbed from somewhere in the top 105,000 to the #12 book on all of Amazon! My time near the top of the list was short-lived, but it was pretty awesome knowing that my book made it into so many new hands.

We spent our Thanksgiving with Sarah Ballantyne and her family in Atlanta, and came home earlier this weekend with enough time for me to develop and photograph a few dishes. After the hubbub of a holiday meal, I was in the mood for something simple and straight-forward. Pork chops came to mind. These easy glazed chops come together in less than an hour and are impossible to mess up. Bear in mind that you’ll want an instant-read thermometer to…

A Brief History Lesson: Beef Bourguignon

The Domestic Man

A couple weeks ago I did a guest post on, which was pretty exciting for me. I first heard of the Paleo diet through his book, The Paleo Solution, and considering how profound of an impact it made on my health, it was just surreal to join forces with him.

For my guest post, I deconstructed the entire history of one of my favorite dishes – Beef Bourguignon – including the individual histories of every ingredient used in the dish and the people who made it. It took a fair bit of research to put it all together, and I think it’s a very interesting read, though a little longer than my typical blog posts. For posterity’s sake, I decided to move the article to this blog in case you wanted to check it out. Enjoy! The link to my recipe is at the bottom of the…

Sexy Lean Muscle Burgers

Behind The Plate

Sexy lean muscle turkey burgers are the best tasting burgers you will ever cook. These burgers are high in protein, low in fat, and practically zero carbs. Give this lean muscle and fat burning recipe a go.

 Let do this.

– Prepare 1 pound of Organic Ground Turkey. I like to use 93/7 fat ratio.

– Prepare 2 cloves of garlic, 1/4 of onion, 1 cup of Arugula and Spinach. Chop these ingredients up in little tiny cubes.

– Prepare 1 Large Organic egg (We will use the egg to bond all the ingredients together)

– Separate the turkey and create a little dip within the meat, and place all of our ingredients in. Chopped garlic, greens, and onion. Top it all off with the cracked egg.

– Now we are ready to mix it. Dive deep and start mashing up all the ingredients together until they are evenly…
